The crown and glory of life is character. It is the noblest possession of man. It exercises a greater power than wealth, and secures all the honour without the jealousies of fame. A man may have a comaratively little culture, or abilities, and but small wealth; yet if his character be of diamond worth, he will always command an influences, whether it be in the workshop, the counting house, the market, or the parliament. His road must be through character to power; he must try no other course, for this course, though not perhaps the quickest, is the surest .
